“What’s a twist you’d like to see on #BB? I feel like they’ve done the same thing for the past few years.”

Thank you for writing in with the question!

I believe CBS believes they’ve had lots of new and different twists in the past few years. Most of them have involved bringing veterans back, as opposed to actual game-changing evolution. I’m not entirely opposed to former players in the game. I’d rather see more new people, but as a fan I’m never going to be happy with my favorite reality show. That’s just the way it is. CBS can’t please everyone. Hisssssss…

However, if I had any say in the new kinds of twists, I’d say stop with Pandora’s Bullshit Box and keep up with the random food restrictions and slop. And ADD more strategy-shifting “twists” at the beginning instead of when it only suits them. Them being CBS, of course.

Unknown-2

For example:

~ An “Open Alliance” scheme where you must openly have an alliance with one person, just one that everyone else in the house knows about. Everyone’s given an “Open Alliance Card” at the start that they must exchange with their alliance member, and through the summer this card can be a curse or a blessing. Is it better to have one card showing or not?

~ More tough decisions being made by more Houseguests, particularly ones that are not HOH or POV champions at-large. People cry foul on floaters. Well, elevate the floating game by throwing in a new kind of challenge where wallflowers are more the center of attention. True floaters can persevere through improvisation. The “dingleberry” floaters cannot.

I’m excited for this summer’s Big Brother 15 season. I’m hoping to receive less death-threats in response to my Big Brother writing, on my life and my family’s life, and looking forward to more civilized debate with the fans. Let’s see what CBS has in store for us!

Starting two weeks early is a pretty big change already.

Always dishing,

Jun

  • Will you be watching Big Brother Canada? Its starting on the 27th of this month! Or is U.S Big Brother enough for you!

  • As usual, spot on. Instead of the have/have not food though, I would enjoy seeing a food budget comp like they have on BBUK. The whole house participates and either you get the luxury food budget or you all are on rations. It causes quite a bit of drama each week when they’re deciding on which foods to order, then you have someone who eats too much, etc…
And can we please get a good gay guy on the show? A cross of Ragan’s cattiness, Lawan’s sassiness and Wil’s athleticism.

  • I’ve been a BB fan since Season 1, and your season is still one of my faves! I love your alliance card idea–I’m SO tired of alliances being formed on Day One…and, of course, there’s always one who’ll go to the mats for his/her alliance….and gets shat upon. LOL
What I DON’T want to see ever again—Jessie! ‘Nuff said!
And death threats??? Really??? You were one of the smartest players EVER! I guess some wannabees can’t handle that.
Is it true BB15 starts in June? That’d make me SOOOO happy!

  • I like the open alliance idea, but I am still partial to your seasons twist!! I just want to see people put through that again, wouldn’t you like to see others suffer as you did!! You have to admit Jun, it was a great twist

    • I would actually LOVE to see that twist again hahahaha. I said in the diary room that the twist was cruel but brilliant :)

  • Jun,

I consider you an expert on BB…it’s production, it’s casting, it’s timeline. Have you ever thought of stepping out and being bold and actually producing a Big Brother Belgium? You’ll need the backing but knowing you (from your writings, posts)….you can do this! The future of Belgium TV awaits you.

    • Ha! Belgium had six seasons of the show. But Belgians aren’t into reality shows as much as Americans are. If they ever bring it back I’d actually love to be a contestant! Try out an international version and see how I fare :)

Hey Jun, big fan here from New York! Whatever twists that Big Brother introduces each season never really bother me. My biggest issue with the show is the editing. The editors have turned into pussies the past few years and seem to think BB is like a family show or something. There have been a lot of interesting story lines they could have gone with, but instead went for generic ones. They also need to not be afraid of doing something crazy, like the X-factor twist, or with the enemies one in season 8, putting an estranged father and daughter in the house was pretty heartless, lol.

    James!

    • Hey James! I understand what you mean about the whole pussydom thing. I don’t know if it’s CBS in general, or just with BB. But it’s hard to make everyone happy. The storylines from last season were many, but we didn’t get to see any of it on television even if we did see it on the feeds. The twist on my season along with season eight and ten were pretty ballsy. I’d love to see something like that again!

    Hello Jun,

I am a religious reader of your blogs and I love reading about your perspective on Big Brother. Amongst the chief topics in the Big Brother universe is the one concerning the greatest player of all time; this hotly debated subject almost always revolves around two titans(and rightly so): Dr. Will Kirby and (Father) Dan Gheesling.

I believe that you can make a sound argument for either of them as the quintessential player. However, it seems that old school fans mostly pick the former while recent converts swear by the name of the latter. I would like to know who you think is the best player till date. Also, if you haven’t already done it, I would implore you to write an article about the greatest players in the history of the game.

    Thank you.

  • The open alliance twist seems like an awesome idea… Maybe force them even closer together by making them cast the same vote to evict etc…
Would also be interesting to see how it would work when one person from an open alliance tries to make secret alliances with others!!

I totally agree with the CBS “meddling” too.. Set out the rules (and twists) on day 1. Then no matter what happens in the house, the public know what is going to happen and when, and would eliminate the “fix” talk that floats around twitter every single season!!

  • I always liked the food competitions where the houseguests played for the food they got in the house. I also think it is time they changed the food restrictions to something else and get rid of the Have Not’s. I kind of liked the idea of putting food restrictions on some of the house but I think it is getting old making them take cold showers and what not.

I’m looking forward to seeing a heroes vs villains all-star twist this season like they’ve done in Survivor season 20. Ian Terry (winner of BB14) has talked about this twist in last years season Exept he says it will be called Good vs Evil!!! This is a great idea! I would love to see this! what do you guys think?!?!?!
