Some 2013 Numbers

There are just two more blogs left in 2013.

Wow happens to be Noah’s new favorite word as of Christmas Eve. He knows exactly when to use it and he means every wow from the bottom of his heart…

From the bottom of my heart I’d like to say thank you to you readers. Having readers who return and share my blogs, and who keep the conversation going, kept be blogging. Many blogs close down because many bloggers stop blogging. So thank you.

I’ll share with you some numbers about this site, as of today. The numbers are big and impressive but I assure you they’re not as big as other major blogs out there. At least I don’t think so. However, I’d like to think my transparency extends to revealing what Google Analytics gave to me, like a Christmas gift.

Some information about you, the readers…

From January 1, 2013, until today the 30th of December:

There have been 529,470 visits to the site, but 265,970 of those have unique visitors to this site.

So 49.71% of you return!

Audience Overview

The average duration of one visit is 1 minute and 55 seconds. Hmmm…

Readers are from everywhere but those are the Top 5 in numbers.

GenderFemale readers are in the minority. This surprised me.

ReadersNearly 8,000 readers have returned to the site more than 201 times.

I’ll share some of what WordPress provides for me as far as statistics.

Here are the Top 10 Search Engine Terms for 2013 that led visitors to this site:

Search Engine Terms

I’m just glad that “jun dishes” and “jundishes” and “jun song” made it on the list.

CommentsAnd you’ve all left 7,101 comments on the site, 5 of which I sent to trash because of profanity or vulgarity.

Comments keep the conversation going so I’m not just dishing to myself.

In the same time all this blogging has been going on, my little Noah’s gone through 2,184 diapers and 784 of them have been filled with poop. So there you go…more statistics than you ever wished for.

Thank you for a successful 2013 of blogging!

See you tomorrow!

Always dishing,

  1. Fabnsab

Congrats! It says a lot about you that most people came for bb but stay for you and your personal insights.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind a few more food posts. You’ve been neglecting the food porn lovers lately. 🙂

  2. Emily

Omg. So much content 🙂 (pun intended). Never would have thought of the poop pamper statistic. But when you are responsible for cleaning I suppose it is a statistic that has relevance! So do the blog hits and revisits cover all gateways to the blog? FB and Twitter and via email for the actual blog site? I’m not that sophisticated about the mechanics of blogging. But either way sounds like a blog with 250,000 revisits is a success …

I know this is the end of the 2013 commitment but hope the blogs continue ….

    Have a Great 2014.

    1. Jun Song Author

It’s been Twitter then Google then Facebook then Jokers then Reddit in the top 5!

Crazy numbers huh? Poop or no poop 🙂

P.S. Emily, re: proportions…I think Belgium’s visits (5,000+) is actually proportionate to that from the U.S. only because each country’s population size is directly proportionate! This is pretty fascinating stuff for statistics nerds

      1. Emily

Yup crazy numbers but there is a reason …. Even with the zero following policy ( smile) you continue to have a very loyal audience and that audience is clearly diverse … I was interested in the country stats. Are the Belgium stats lowish or are equivalent given the given the proportionate size? Curious. 🙂

  3. Jason

It’d be interesting to know how many of those men were gay though. I don’t think it’d be as surprising. It seems like you have a pretty large following of us.

    1. GaYToR

Richard. Where is the blog about Davy’s swimmers? I missed that one but I must know. Was there a (taste) test. If so I want to take the makeup test. 😀

  4. Patricia Behan

I am a small number, I started reading you and following you on Twitter and FB because of EvelDick’s mentions of you. For the last 6 months, I have read you every day. Keep dishing, and I will keep reading! I love reading about your life, all parts of it..I feel like a friend is just talking to me, a friend I really like !

    1. Jun Song Author

I haven’t actively been looking for sponsors but if you know someone who’d appreciate these stats for a sponsorship please do pass on the info! 🙂

  5. Karenra

Its u that brings the reader. .ur funny..sincere..and real..ur are what some may dare to be..ur honest and truthful ..I lov ur blogs they keep me connected..
    Write away!

  6. Great numbers, Jun! My blog is finally finding it’s feet out in the blog-o-sphere but my numbers are nowhere near yours! The words used in search engines to find my blog: “meg go run” “planet fitness pros and conc” “abs tumblr girls”. I do not have a tumbler and I have never posted a picture of my abs on my blog. I guess that visitor ended up being disappointed!

    1. Jun Song Author

That’s hilarious! I do sometimes wonder how some visitors feel when they’ve been duped by Google! HA!

Happy to hear you’re still blogging!

  7. You as a person alone are worth coming to read your blog. Then to top it off your blogs are all worth reading and gives us much to think about after reading most of your blogs. You sink in with us and we stay. Thanks always for sharing your life with us.

  8. GaYToR

I’m afraid I wasn’t as loyal as some but as you know I had a year of issues. But, it gives me something to strive for in 2014.

I am rather shocked that Julie Chen didn’t make it to the Top 10 Search Engine Terms. She probably is too.

Just for fun and you would probably have to run this together manually in your abundance of free time, it would be fun to see the list of your most used words. Actually I’m probably afraid to know but I love living on the edge.

I think with the stats you have posted you could be declared an international addiction. Please never make us suffer withdrawal.

    1. Jun Song Author

I know you’re always around GaYToR. That’s what matters 🙂

Julie Chen’s been popping up a lot as of late on the Google searches. Blech. 🙂

  9. Congrats on the stats! I was surprised about more men visiting too. Not surprising are the comments about Linda Catchup… I am eagerly anticipating the next chapter. Jun, you and Noah (and Davy) have made me smile a lot this year… and your blog also brought some tears, both of which are evidence of your great writing skills. When words from the page evoke real emotion, be assured you’re definitely doing something right. Wishing you and your entire family, and your followers a very happy and prosperous new year! Please keep on dishing!

    1. Jun Song Author

Hahahaha. Yeah. The male to female ratio was eye-opening 🙂

Thank you for staying with me all year and the year before…

Cheers to the new year Mar!

  10. Peg

I continue to check out your Blog because I think you have a tremendous gift of writing. Since I’m an older retiree and sometimes “out of the loop” on modern topics and/or conversations, I do find myself “squirming a bit” at some posts. That’s the old school in me. I keep reading and waiting for you to take the big step to write and publish a book. You have no idea how you keep the reader wanting more. The Jun Dishes Blog is never enough. You write as if you were in the room right next to me, speaking to me, and just when I’m ready for more and more conversation – you’re gone.

I’m thrilled to be a fan of yours…may you be filled with many blessings in the new year, 2014…to you, Davy and Noah.

    1. Jun Song Author

Oh Peg, I do cherish your honesty. Hahaha. The big step is coming…it’s a work in progress 🙂

Thank you always for your thoughtfulness and messages! Cheers to 2014!

      1. Peg

Look at you — replying to each and every post. Now how nice is that? I appreciate it and I’m sure the others do, too. That’s what separates you from the rest, Jun.

  11. Wow, the year of daily blog is coming to an end; where did 2013 go. I have enjoyed reading what you share everyday (sometimes I fall behind and have two or three to read/catch up on). Watching Noah grow this year has been such a great joy, thank you for sharing him with us.
I found the stat of majority being male interesting.
I would love to see a few more (non pork) food blogs. I love your food, I am making ginger chicken soup on Wednesday 🙂
Happy New Year to you, Davy and little “wow” Noah! I hope 2014 brings you all much love, joy and prosperity.

  12. Aileen

Congratulations! I look forward to another year of your blog and watching Noah grow. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
My life has not been easy this past year, to say the least. You, your blog & your Family have made me smile a lot. Thank you.
All the best in the New Year!!!
    XO, Aileen
P.S. When I found your blog I started reading everyone of them, from this year. I guess you could say, I’m hooked 🙂 I plan to read all the others.
